4 best places in London to take the kids swimming

It’s always good to keep the kids active on your family holidays and with the weather getting warmer, there’s no better way to do it than with a day out at one of London’s many public swimming pools.

We love welcoming families to the Montcalm hotel and seeing their excitement as they venture out into the incredible City of London. If you’re planning on taking the little ones out for an afternoon of swimming while at our Boutique Hotels London, here are some of the best spots to check out.

Ironmonger Row Baths

Norman Street, London

This beautiful Victorian-style swimming facility is one of the oldest in the city and was first opened to the public in 1913. The beautiful metalwork is a great example of classic London architecture and is another reason to visit the baths during your stay at our Boutique Hotels London. Don’t let the age fool you, however. The Ironmonger Row Baths recently underwent a multi-million-pound restoration project that brought it into the 21st century. This is a great place for a family day out and has plenty of room for everyone to practice their favourite strokes.

Montcalm Spa

If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice swim and relax during your city break, you don’t need to look any further than your hotel. The Montcalm Hotel Spa boasts some of the best facilities in the city and is a great place to unwind. Unfortunately, the spa isn’t suitable for youngsters under the age of 8 but if you’re travelling with teens, it’s ideal. The spa has a pool, sauna, steam room and a hot tub so you can sit back and spend the day relaxing with the kids.

London Aquatics Centre

Olympic Park, London

Experience the thrill of swimming in the same pool as the world’s greatest swimmers and let your kids feel what it’s like to be an Olympic champion for the day. The London Aquatics Centre is located in the beautiful Olympic Village and offers visitors the best facilities in the city. If you have a budding young swimmer or diving champion in the family, this is a great place to help them practice their skills. The centre also has a giant inflatable assault course which will keep your little ones entertained for hours.

Leyton Leisure Centre

High Road, Leyton, London

This is the perfect place for a day out if you’re travelling with toddlers. The Leyton Leisure Centre has some great indoor pool facilities that are sure to keep your kids happy all afternoon. There are several pools suited to different age groups and swimming abilities, making it ideal for families with lots of kids. The best part is all of the fun slides and flumes. Listen to your youngsters laugh as they race down the tubes and splash into the water below. This is a must-see for families in London.
