5 Things to See and Do Along the Central Line from Montcalm Marble Arch

The Tube remains one of the most popular and convenient ways of getting around London, providing you with the ideal speedy transport around the city. The Central Line is one of the busiest routes, and if you’re staying at the Montcalm it’s a great method of seeing the sights. Here are our top five things to see and do along the way…

Bond Street

Just one stop along from Marble Arch, you’ll find yourself in a world of luxury and splendour at Bond Street. Having rightfully earned its reputation as one of London’s primary shopping districts, this is a place to see and be seen – as well as shop till you drop! Expect a dazzling array of boutiques, high-end fashion brands and jewellers. In addition, the area is known for offering antique stores galore and elegant bars, restaurants and music venues. Not bad for a quick Tube trip!

Oxford Circus

Another of the city’s busiest areas, Oxford Circus is a haven for both locals and visitors alike. There is a little bit of everything here, including bars, art galleries and a cinema. The high street also offers an array of popular high street shops for finding a bargain and indulging in some retail therapy during your stay in London. Oxford Circus station is a historic destination, having first opened in 1900. For history and heritage buffs, it offers plenty of appeal.

Bank

Bank station provides a gateway to the heart of the City, London’s historic trading district. You will find lots to keep you entertained while you’re here, including famous statues, and the chance to take a look at venues like the Royal Exchange and Mansion House (official residence of the London Mayor). Bank station has no over-ground buildings, setting it apart from most of the city’s Tube lines.

Stratford

Stay on the tube a little longer and you’ll end up in Stratford, home to indie theatre productions and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Having housed the London 2012 Olympic Games, the venue has since transformed into a space for recreation and sports of all kinds, as well as offering unique rides and experiences for visitors from all over the world. There are plenty of places to stop and refuel in Stratford, and you can later take in a show at the Theatre Royal Stratford East for the ultimate evening of fringe entertainment.

St Paul’s

One of the most impressive sites in the city, St Paul’s Cathedral is close to St Paul’s Station and has dominated the local skyline for over 300 years. If you have a chance to visit this should be on your list, but there are lots of other things to see from this Tube station if you’re not in the mood for a cathedral tour. Postman’s Park is located close by, giving you access to some of London’s incredible natural scenery and green space.
