Valentine's Activities for Couples In 2020

If you think that candlelit dinners are overrated and long strolls in the park lack excitement, then you and your beloved should definitely make plans to head to London this year as there are so many amazing experiences on offer for every kind of couple in the capital.

From thrill seekers to movie buffs, take a look at some of the best Valentine’s Day activities coming to the city this year in our handy guide for lovers who like to do things a little differently.

Catch a movie marathon

What could be more romantic than a rom-com? This year, the Prince Charles Cinema (7 Leicester Place, WC2H 7BY) is offering couples the chance to cuddle up on the back row to watch the classic romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle or get a giggle on with Hot Fuzz.

On Friday 14th February, you can even join other couples for a six-hour long movie marathon with back to back screenings of Richard Linklater’s romance trilogy. Be sure that you book one of our London hotel offers so you have plenty of money left over to spend on popcorn and movie nibbles.

To get to the cinema from our 5-star hotels London, the Tube is by far the fastest and easiest option. Just head to the Marble Arch station and hop on the Central line. You can expect to be in the cinema foyer in less than 20 minutes.

Get crafty

Perfect for creative couples or those who just feel like a giggle at the other person’s expense, the opportunity to make a miniature clay model of your other half is just too good to pass up!

Drink, Shop & Do located on Caledonian Road at Kings Cross is famed for its quirky and unique crafty events, so get ready to get your hands dirty at this blockbuster movie Ghost-esque experience that will both have you screaming with laughter.

All materials are included, and you’ll even be able to take your mini lover home with you after the event (if you want to that is!).

Places are limited, so make sure that you book your spaces as soon as you’ve reserved your room at our 5-star hotels London to avoid disappointment.

Get those hearts racing

If you’re not a fan of sedate activities and crave a little extra excitement, then a trip to the capital won’t let you down.

To get that adrenaline flowing, start your day with a high-speed ride along the river Thames – the perfect activity for thrill-seekers.

The Thames Rocket company has been providing visitors to the city with high-speed rides along the river for many years, and there are plenty of options to choose from depending on your interests and other plans for the day.

Our favourite for Valentine’s Day this year is the Rocket Rush, a 35mph ride to Canary Wharf and back that takes 50-minutes and pumps out some of the best classic love songs for good measure. Sailings run from the 13th to 16th February, so check out our London hotel offers so you can treat your date to some fast fun on the water.

Tea for two

All of this excitement is sure to leave you hungry, but if you don’t want to go down the candlelit meal for two route, then there are plenty of other tasty options to keep you and your date happy and fend off those hunger pangs.

It might be an idea to enjoy our spa and afternoon tea experience after this activity as it includes heights, speed and more speed!

Located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Orbit Tower was one of the main landmarks of the 2012 Olympic Games. Sadly, once the games had come to an end, the tower didn’t receive too many visitors, and so a decision was made to give it a bit of a transformation into the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide!

ArcellorMittal Orbit, Olympic Stadium In Queen Elizabeth Olympic

Offering breath-taking views of Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the park itself, the tunnel slide stands at 114.5 metres tall and provides 12 corkscrew style twists and turns on the way to the bottom.

The ride itself takes around 40 seconds, giving you some idea of the speeds that can be achieved as you whizz through the spiral tube structure, so it’s certainly not for the fainthearted!

Just remember to book your ride on the Orbit slide in advance as this is becoming a very popular attraction with couples seeking some thrills and spills during their romantic getaway.
