Exhibitions, Galleries and Concerts to Look Forward to This Month

Whether you fancy checking out the latest exhibition, browsing an art gallery or heading to a great new concert, here’s our round up of the best events to look forward to throughout this month…

Florence and the Machine

The O2, Greenwich Peninsula – November 21st 2018

Touring in support of her latest album, UK indie artist Florence and the Machine’s Florence Welch will be playing this exclusive gig at top London venue The O2 this November, giving music fans something to look forward to during their stay at the Montcalm London City. Ennio Morricone

The O2, Greenwich Peninsula – November 26th 2018

A legendary composer known for creating the film scores to classics such as The Good The Bad and the Ugly, The Untouchables and Once Upon a Time in the West will be playing at The 02 in what marks his last ever London concert – providing lots of reasons to take a look whilst visiting hotels in London.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown!

Somerset House – Until 3rd March 2019

Famous comic book strip Charlie Brown is brought to life at this exhibition, which explores how the cartoon explored some deep and universal themes such as alienation, anxiety and fear to create a heady cocktail of a comic which won legions of fans around the world. The exhibit also showcases the way the sheer simplicity of the drawings helped to make them particularly effective – a must for cartoon fans staying at the Montcalm London.

Lorenzo Lotto: Portraits

National Gallery – Until 10th February 2019

Known for his portraits of Renaissance Venice, Lorenzo Lotto’s work is startling in its realism and detail. Focusing mostly on the middle classes, Lotto’s work fuses historical details with an eerie clarity which pays great attention to the colours and clothing of his subjects, which have lost none of their lustre with time.

Russia: Royalty & The Romanovs

The Queen’s Gallery – Until 28th April 2019

This exhibition showcases the many artistic gifts shared between the Russian and British royal families, dating all the way from the era of Peter the Great to the end of the Russian royal line with Tsar Nicholas II. Spanning centuries, the exhibit explores the many varied artworks – some commissioned, some found – and includes work by a number of great artists and craftsmen of the age who were assigned to do justice to two royal dynasties. There’s a wide variety of art on show here including portraiture, photographs, sculptures, miniatures and archived documents which give an unexpectedly intimate look at what it truly means to be a monarch or a member of a royal family.
