See London from Another Angle – The Best Views of the Capital from Around Marble Arch

There’s something special about removing yourself from the city and taking the long view. And getting to a good vantage point can also remind you just how huge London is as a city. If you’re a sightseer or looking to bag some great, panoramic snaps of the capital, here are the best views of London you need to seek out.

Primrose Hill

Only a 20-minute journey from the Montcalm Marble Arch, Primrose Hill is a gorgeous park in its own right, and it offers some stunning, all-encompassing views of the centre of London.

Primrose Hill has long had a reputation for coolness and a chic, modern outlook. And it’s not hard to see why, with lots of music venues, boutiques and more scattered across the area. But you can still find the residents of the area – and those seeking some of the best views of London – taking up station on the parks elevated slopes most evenings.

And that’s because the views from Primrose Hill really are that good. On a clear day, you can see right to the centre of London with the Gherkin and the Shard dominating the skyline. You can also find the London Eye and the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral coming into view, making Primrose Hill a must-visit location.

From the Thames

With the River Thames just a short hop from Montcalm’s many 5 star hotels London, you can experience London from a completely different angle with a cruise.

Many cruise providers embark from Victoria Embankment, and the journey takes in almost all of the major London sights. You can benefit from great, low-angle views if you’re in the mood for some photography, making for something different from the usual snaps.

And the best thing about a Thames river cruise is the fact that most services enable you to jump off wherever you want if you want to explore a little further or do some more sightseeing. Then all you need to do is jump back on once you’re ready to move on.

St Paul’s Cathedral

If you want to combine visiting a famous London landmark and see some unforgettable views, then you need to make the short trip to St Paul’s Cathedral. You can get there in about 20-minutes via the Tube from the Montcalm Marble Arch, and the journey is more than worth it.

While the tours on offer at St Paul’s are great in their own right, you’ll want to opt for the ‘Climb the Dome’ experience.

You can choose from either The Whispering Gallery – which takes 259 steps to reach – or the more elevated Stone Gallery, which is 173 feet above ground level. From here, you can take in unmatched views of central London, with the capital stretching away into the distance.
