It isn’t often that fashion enthusiasts have the chance to study their craft in such illustrious surroundings, but the latest course from the V&A offers just that opportunity, all within easy reach of the Montcalm Hotel Marble Arch.
Encouraging familiarity with textiles and exploring how they have been used throughout history to craft some of the most beautiful garments on earth, this course is sure to enhance your existing knowledge of dressmaking and boost appreciation of key textile-based creations. The course is run by the V&A’s former senior curator of textiles, and looks at how use of fabric has shifted in accordance with society since 1600, before bringing the student right up to the present day. Whilst requiring a significant commitment, Textiles: Ancient to Modern is available in manageable blocks such as two-day short courses.
