Area Guide Finsbury London

The area of London known as Finsbury or Finsbury Park has become increasingly desirable as a place to both, live and stay. Known for its hip, urbanite feels and a mixture of Victorian-era terraced houses and newer developments, Finsbury is a part of London which offers a fantastic mix of the historic and the contemporary.

Transport in Finsbury

In Finsbury, you’re well connected to the rest of London. The main transportation hub in Finsbury is Finsbury Park Station, which offers connections to National Rail services, two bus stations and a London Underground station. This makes the area ideal as your base in the city and enjoying spa break in London with us at The Montcalm Hotels throughout the year, helping to see the sights with ease.

Shopping in Finsbury

When it comes to indulging in some retail therapy, Finsbury is a great place to be. There’s a combination of big brands, chain stores and independent retailers, all within easy distance of your hotel. Whilst it is certainly not the central shopping hub of London, and you might need to head further afield to continue your shopping spree, there’s more than enough to get started with here – and the simplicity of travel from Finsbury means you can reach larger shopping districts in no time at all. If you need to stock up on a few foodie essentials, then there are a few major supermarkets close at hand.

Recreation in Finsbury

If you’re a football fan (and more specifically, a fan of Arsenal) then you’re in luck – the Arsenal Emirates Football Club is around ten minutes away from the local Tube station, and within easy reach of the Montcalm. Alternatively, if you’d rather be playing sports than watching them, you can make use of Finsbury Park itself, which has an enormous indoor and outdoor gym space as well as running track, tennis courts and opportunities to try a yoga class. Cyclists are also welcome, and there’s a secure space to park your bike close to Finsbury Park Station.

Nightlife in Finsbury

Finsbury is a great place to go if you’re into pub culture, with lots of fantastic local haunts spread throughout the area. There are a few traditional pubs such as The Faltering Fullback, which provides a relaxed atmosphere and pub grub all year round. If you’d rather head to a gastro-pub, you can choose between the likes of The Old Dairy and The Noble. There are low-key festivals hosted here throughout the summer, and you can also head to the nearby Montcalm Club Lounge for drinks.

Restaurants in Finsbury

Major flavors in Finsbury include Thai food, pub cuisine and a number of fried chicken joints. The area is not short of restaurants & bars, so you can dine in some comfort. There’s a wide range of cuisines available within walking distance of your hotel – so if you are seeking a little variety or simply want to get a quick takeaway meal before a night on the town, you’re in the right place.
