The best places to hear live music this month in London

London is a city with a rich musical history that’s left a lasting legacy. Whether it’s classical music you’re into or something a little more contemporary, you’re sure to find it at some of the city’s finest music venues. Here’s our guide to the best places to hear live music this February.

The O2 Arena

The O2 is one of London’s most popular music venues, hosting all genres and the biggest music artists of today and yesteryear. When visiting the Montcalm Hotel London, it’s a great way to get your musical fix.

February sees plenty to enjoy, including live performances from Lady Gaga (4th-8th Feb 2018) as part of her Joanne World Tour, with the show lauded for it’s showmanship as well as Gaga’s vocal talents.

There’s also top entertainment in the form of Kendrick Lamar (12-13th Feb 2018) which sees the seven-time Grammy winner embark on his own European tour for two dates in mid-February.

For those seeking something a little different, there’s the big-band stylings of the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour (10-11th Feb 2018) which promises a weekend of dance and song sure to help put a spring in your step.

The Royal Albert Hall

This historic venue is within easy reach of several of our luxury hotels in London, including the Montcalm Hotel London. Stunning and opulent surroundings also play host to some of the finest the music world has to offer, including classical, jazz and pop music artists.

This month sees an array of great talent hit the Royal Albert Hall, including the Live Music Brunch: Oh La La! (4th Feb 2018) which presents a delightful slice of Parisian folk music and jazz standards to the accompaniment of vocals, guitar, clarinet, double bass and saxophone. For a lazy weekend treat and introduction to London’s own jazz scene, there are few more interesting ways to explore the city’s musical underground.

The Royal Albert Hall will see more jazz throughout the month, including the Late Night Jazz event (15th Feb 2018) in which multi-award-winning composer, producer, arranger and instrumentalist Emma-Jean Thackery, whose 2016 EP was declared one of the most significant records of the year, entertains the crowds as she rises to become one of London’s most promising new musical talents.

Great Live Music Venues

In addition to some of the larger venues London has to offer, the city is also packed with plenty of smaller destinations ideal for catching live music in an intimate setting. There’s established, popular gig venues such as 100 Club, which has been hosting live bands since 1942 and supports both emerging and established artists. For fans of the blues, Blues Kitchen combines great food (BBQ is a speciality) and the finest live blues music in a buzzing atmosphere. Elsewhere, the Cat and Mutton is a pub which serves up self-described ‘hearty pub grub’ in it’s historic bar, established in 1729 – with live music and DJs making regular appearances.
