Top Four Free Things To Do With Your Partner In London

As the old saying goes: the best things in life are free. London can be an expensive city to visit, but you don’t have to spend a fortune on daily activities if you know where to look. There are plenty of things to see and do with your partner without breaking the bank – so you can focus on spending quality time together, rather than spending all your cash.

Here at Montcalm Hotel, our central location puts us right in the heart of London’s tourist district, which means you’ll find a multitude of free things to do right on our doorstep. Here are the top four things you can do with your partner in London that won’t cost a penny.

Visit A Museum

The vast majority of London’s incredible museums have totally free admission for all. That means you can spend a whole day wandering fantastic exhibitions at Kensington Palace, the V&A, the Natural History Museum and the National Portrait Gallery without reaching for your purse or wallet once. Soak up the culture and enjoy a day of real education value with a tour of London’s top museums. Of course, after all that walking, you’ll need to retire to one of our luxury hotels London for a much-needed rest!

Stroll Through Hyde Park

Getting out and about in nature is one of the best ways you can spend your time without splashing the cash. Hyde Park is an enormous inner-city park with a multitude of sights and attractions you can see for free. The park has been carefully designed and is meticulously managed to ensure it remains a pleasant and enjoyable place for Londoners and visitors alike.  Other royal parks, including Kensington Gardens and St. James’ Park also make a lovely – and romantic – place to take your partner in London. Be sure to look at the times they close during the winter months – some close at a specific time, while others close when the sun sets.

Explore Famous Monuments

Big Ben, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street are all within walking distance of one another in central London – why not tour these iconic locations for a couple of hours? You and your partner will never tire of looking at Westminster Palace (the official name of the Houses of Parliament) from every possible angle, and you can pose for a selfie in front of Buckingham Palace. Don’t forget to look for the Royal Standard flying high above the palace as that means the Queen is in residence.

Wander The Bustling Markets

London is home to a great number of markets, and you don’t need to spend a penny to enjoy the bustling atmosphere and interesting sights. There’s Portobello Road Market, Camden Lock Market, Old Spitalfields Market, and even Columbia Road Flower Market to explore on certain days of the week. There’s no admission fee, and you’ll certainly have a fantastic time weaving between stalls, admiring the handcrafted goods, the artisan foods and the quirky items being sold by charming vendors from across the globe.
