Top Tips for Getting the Best Scenery Photos While in London

London is a truly fantastic city for photographers to visit, offering everything from wonderful skyline vistas to historic architecture and beyond. But capturing just the right image can take a little work and preparation. Here’s our top tips for getting the best photographic results for Best Scenery Photos while visiting London.

Start Early

London may come alive during the day – but try capturing some photographs whilst the city is still asleep. Major landmarks will be uncrowded by tourists and commuters, and if you arrive at dawn, you’ll have the advantage of catching the sunrise for some dramatic natural lighting. The Montcalm Hotel London is closely situated to many of the city’s most impressive buildings, so you’ll be ideally placed. Fantastic buildings for capturing early in the day include the Palace of Westminster and of course, the iconic Big Ben.

Explore a Green Space

London is packed full of unexpected greenery, from small community gardens to more centralised Royal parks and gardens which regularly pack in visitors eager to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Hyde Park is great for exploring by bicycle with a camera at the ready for getting some snaps of the wildlife and the Serpentine Lake, whilst Regent’s Park has stunning and cultivated floral gardens for you to enjoy. If you feel like truly being transported to a tranquil idyll, then give the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew a spin; this is particularly well suited to those with a few hours to spare, but they’re situated only thirty minutes from central London, for great convenience whilst visiting the Montcalm London City.

Include Local Characters

While popping out at the break of dawn is one way of getting your photographic fix, you can also capture some of the people in the city as a way to truly showcase this culturally rich space. Capturing people in your photographs alongside their surroundings is a way to add more depth to them, but be aware that not everyone wants to be photographed!

Use the Underground

As a cost-effective and convenient way of getting around while staying at boutique hotels in London, the London Underground can’t be beaten – and it will help connect you to London’s landmarks and undiscovered treasures, perfect for photographing the city in style. You could even get some shots of this iconic transport system itself, which is a sprawling and integral part of London’s cultural heritage.

Check Upcoming Events

If your trip to London coincides with a special event, this is the ideal opportunity to bring your camera along and capture some images. As one of the world’s busiest cities, there’s always something happening – from sporting events to major concerts, parades and much more besides – so use local London guides and convenient transport to get around and ensure you see as much of it as possible, both through the camera lens and in person.
