Art and antiques festival returns

Art lovers visiting the Montcalm London hotels will soon be able to attend The Winter Fine Art & Antiques Fair at Olympia.

Now in its 21st year, the important annual art and antiques event attracts 20,000 visitors and approximately 140 exhibiting dealers.

The show is considered a highlight of the year, being the only one of its calibre between October and February, and has proven popular with collectors, new buyers, home decorators and those looking for a one-off piece.

Among the items on offer, people can expect to find Chippendale chairs, Lalique vases, Cartier earrings, Lowry paintings, 18th century farmhouse tables, silver teapots, fine dining tables, Art Deco lights, William de Morgan vases, letters from Queen Victoria, 18th century tapestries and much more.

Last year’s event saw a total attendance of 23,454,with notable pieces including a North Wales oak dresser from 1730 sold for £5,500 and an Enrico Braga sculpture for £40,000.

Among the pieces on sale this year, buyers can pick up an oil painting by Victor Moody, depicting a man in Tudor costume made in 1916.

Furthermore, house decorators can pick up an 18th Century Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase.

“An exquisite example of an English plum pudding mahogany secretaire bookcase in the manner of Gillows, the glazed upper section with typical Gothic arch and corbel decorated cornice,” explained the organisers.

Taking place at Earls Court & Olympia, one of the premier event venues in London, people can snap up the deals from November 14th to 20th.
