Renowned TV chef Jamie Oliver has launched his new restaurant chain Union Jacks in the heart of London.
Just a stone’s throw from his Jamie’s Italian eatery on Upper St Martin’s Lane, the new restaurant at number four Central Giles Piazza in Soho is in the perfect location for anyone with an appetite for great food who is staying at one of the luxury Montcalm Hotels London.
The nearest station to Union Jacks is Tottenham Court Road, just three stops away from your Hyde Park base.
Mr Oliver’s latest enterprise puts a British-twist on a Neapolitan favourite – the pizza.
Union Jacks philosophy is a “union of ideas, traditions, and of people” and its chefs combine the wood-fired tradition of Italy with some familiar flavours from the UK created using local ingredients sourced from British growers, farmers and winemakers.
Jacks ‘flats’ come with an imaginative array of toppings from sardine and fennel, to chilli and goat’s curd and top food critic for the Metro, Marina O’Loughlin, describes the wood-fired bases as “pure class”.
As well as great pizzas, Lisa Markwell from the Independent says that “the starters and puddings are delicious, with the wit and flair of Jamie Oliver Inc at its best”.
Before and after dinner, restaurant goers can also enjoy the wealth of bars and restaurants in and around Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Soho.
For instance, grab a wonderfully crafted after dinner cocktail in the gloriously refined setting of Rules, one of the oldest establishments in the city and a perfect way to complement your stay at one of the Montcalm hotels in London.
For a different taste of tradition, you can visit the Bear and Staff near Leicester Square for pint of real ale, where the beer is pulled from hand pumps and rotated on a regular basis to provide the freshest taste.
