The coming year is set to be an excellent one for sport in the capital, with a huge number of fantastic events scheduled to take place across London over the next 12 months. If you want to be part of this then you can do so by getting yourself a ticket to one or more of these, and soak up the atmosphere while watching the biggest stars in world sport battle it out for top honours.
American sports, for example, have been growing in popularity in the UK at a meteoric rate over the past few years, and 2014 will see more teams than ever before from the US competing in London. Wembley Stadium, for instance, will host three regular season NFL matches for the first time next season, giving fans of American football more opportunities to see the superstars of gridiron putting on a show as they compete to reach the Superbowl.
The O2 Arena will also be getting in on the action by hosting regular season NBA games, with one such match taking place on January 16th. While tickets for this event may already be sold out, it's worth keeping an eye on what else is coming up as increasing numbers of US basketball teams sign up to play in London. Those who don't manage to get a seat for one of these matches can still see the NBA's hotshots in action when the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters perform at Wembley Arena in April.
Looking at more traditional English sports, the FA Cup Final is once again set to be a real showpiece occasion on the football calendar, with the match taking place at Wembley on May 10th. Attending the game is perhaps the ultimate footballing experience, so if you've never been before then this could be the year to do so – although this will obviously depend on your team making it all the way to the final!
Tennis fans will also be keen to see if Andy Murray can retain his Wimbledon title when the world's top players revisit SW19 in June, while the early months of the year will see the England Rugby team playing in the Six Nations at Twickenham.
