Hyde Park set to embrace the festival season

A large area of Hyde Park is set to be home to a Winter Wonderland over the Christmas period.

From November 23rd until January 6th, the park will become a temporary home to a whole host of attractions – ideal for families staying at central London hotels.

There will be two special themed Christmas markets offering a range of food and drink as well as handmade craft ideas that will be perfect for presents for family and friends.

The Giant Observation Wheel will offer people a great chance to see the capital from a unique vantage point. Standing at around 60 metres, the wheel has special viewing pods to enable those on-board to enjoy the views in comfortable.

Anyone wishing to enjoy the wheel ride is advised to book their tickets in advance rather than wait until they visit the park as it is expected to be very popular.

Other attractions are set to include the largest temporary ice skating rink in the UK, a Father Christmas Grotto and a big top hosting several performances by Zippos Christmas Circus.

The special Winter Wonderland also has a large choice of bars, cafes and restaurants, including the Famous Black Forest Restaurant, the new Fire Pit complete with a large fire pit alongside a choice of real ales and cider and the Bavarian Village offers a tempting mix of German treats, beers and live music.

Admission to the Winter Wonderland itself is free, although tickets are needed for some of the special events taking place when inside.

Over the next few weeks across London many of the capital's main attractions will be getting into the festive spirit with special themed events as well as venues such as Somerset House and the Natural History Museum installing ice skating rinks.
