London has long been associated with the world of fashion and can claim to be right up there with other major European cities like Paris and Milan when it comes to designer clothes offerings.
Anyone with an interest in the rag trade should therefore think about taking a trip to the capital this month to celebrate the city's fashion credentials through participating in a number of events.
The most high profile of these is London Fashion Week (LFW), which kicks off this Friday (September 13th) and will open with an exhibition by the highly acclaimed Turkish designer Bora Aksu.
This year marks Aksu's tenth appearance at LFW and the show will present his spring/summer 2014 collection, which draws inspiration from his Turkish roots, utilising a number of textiles and techniques.
Speaking ahead of the event, the designer commented: "After 10 years showing in London it's been great to go back to my roots and be inspired by the rich culture and traditional artistry of Turkey."
Aside from LFW, an exhibition entitled Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 80s is now on at the V&A Museum, which can be found in South Kensington alongside the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum.
Running until February 16th next year, the display includes garments worn by popular 80s music icons Boy George and Adam Ant, alongside a fabulous collection of outfits designed by the likes of George Galliano, Vivian Westwood and many others, making it an absolute must for all fashionistas staying in central London hotels over the next few months.
Of course, the best way to discover the city's fashion scene is to simply hit the shops, and you'll find no shortage of designer boutiques and other great clothes stores throughout London, with Oxford Street being the perfect starting point.
