All eyes on Wembley for the drama of the FA Cup
England's national stadium has been the scene of some truly memorable and historic encounters down the years, with the FA Cup - the oldest football competition in the world - having provided more than its fair share of drama.
Just last season, for example, Wigan Athletic pulled off a shock victory over the mighty Manchester City in the final of the tournament, lifting the trophy for the first time their history courtesy of a 1-0 win.
The two sides met again in the quarter-finals of the cup at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester this weekend (March 9th), with most people predicting that City would avenge last year's cup final humiliation by progressing to the semis.
However, in yet another dramatic twist, the Lattics once again upset the Sky Blues, defying all the odds and triumphing by two goals to one.
They will now meet Arsenal at Wembley in the semi-finals, with the match to be played on April 13th.
With ticket details set to be announced shortly, this could be the perfect opportunity for anyone who is yet to experience the drama of the cup first hand, and with the stadium located just 15 minutes from the Montcalm Hotel on the Jubilee Line, getting to and from the ground should be no hassle at all.
The other semi-final will be played the previous day, and will see Hull City take on Sheffield United.
The Tigers beat Sunderland 3-0 in their quarter-final match, reaching the last four of the competition for the first time in 84 years, and will now go head to head with the Blades for a place in the final.
Whatever happens, the outcome of this year's cup is set to be significant, with favourites Arsenal hoping to end a nine-year wait for a trophy, while all three other teams in the competition will need to pull off something of a giant-killing if they are to overcome the Gunners.
