Artisan Wine Fair comes to London this weekend

14th May 2013

Bringing together the very best in international wine-growing talent, the RAW Artisan Wine Fair 2013 takes place at the Old Truman Brewery this weekend. An unmissable opportunity for wine enthusiasts to try some of the world's most interesting tipples, this two-day event is sure to be one of the most important of its kind held in London this year.

Over 150 growers will be present, with over 1,000 varieties of wine available for tasting. These include biodynamic and organic creations, but the focus is mainly on natural wines; these are made with as little reliance on chemicals and technology as possible, both in the grape-growing and in the winemaking processes that follow.

Natural wines are produced by a relatively small number of artisanal winemakers. The fair will be a major opportunity for British fans to taste these unique concoctions and meet their creators. "Their wines are pure, kind to the planet, very possibly better for your health and best of all they're absolutely delicious," claim RAW organisers.

Artisans from Europe and beyond will be in attendance, with winemakers from France and Italy represented alongside Swiss, British and Canadian growers.

Potential visitors will be delighted to hear that all tastings are included in the admission price, so they can make the most of a rare chance to sample obscure wines without breaking the bank. Tickets cost £25 on the door but can be booked in advance from the fair's website at a discounted price of £20. The price includes a catalogue, tasting glass and access to a host of fascinating talks and seminars.

These include workshops for matching wines with cheeses and chocolates, book signings by some of the leading wine writers and a talk on the rare Junmaishu - or 'pure' - variety of the Japanese rice wine Sake.

The RAW Artisan Wine Fair commences this Sunday (May 19th) and concludes the following day. It will open from 10am to 6pm on Sunday and 10am to 8pm on Monday.
