Charity auction for famed graffiti artist
Art collectors staying in central London hotels may be interested in attending an auction of prints and paintings from street artist Robbo.
Taking place on September 4th, with a special preview on September 3rd at Pure Evil in Hoxton, the sale aims to raise money for the infamous graffiti artist's hospital fees and family.
The graffiti artist is currently in a coma after striking his head in a fall outside his home, leaving behind a young daughter.
Accompanied by a fundraiser at nightspot Cargo, the auction takes place between 13:00 and 00:00 GMT and includes notable pieces such as Goldie, Team Robbo, Kid Acne and Blek Le Rat.
One of London's original graffiti artists, Robbo's resurgence came in 2009 when Banksy used an original 1985 piece on Regent's Canal as the backdrop for his "decorator hanging wall paper".
The organisers explained: "[Banksy took] away any remnants of the original artist's name, forcing Robbo out of retirement and kick starting the 'Real Graffiti' vs. 'Street Art' debate."
Street artists such as Ben Eine, Reas, Pranksky, Prime and Andy Seize, among many more have donated work to the auction.
A number of well-known musicians and DJs will be on hand to provide entertainment and music for guests.
Additionally, food and drinks will be served throughout the fundraising event, which costs a minimum donation of £5 for entry.
Based in Shoreditch, the venue is a short walk away from Old Street Underground station, a simple journey from Marble Arch station - right around the corner from The Montcalm hotel.
