International theme for Taste of London festival in 2012
The annual Taste of London festival is to have an international theme this year in recognition of the capital's hosting of the Olympic Games.
Each year, the festival attracts tens of thousands of foodies who come to sample dishes from top London restaurants and internationally renowned chefs.
But in recognition of the many visitors from countries around the world who will be coming to London for the Games this summer, the 2012 festival will boast a brand new major feature area dedicated to celebrating international cuisine, culture and travel.
Five international pavilions are to be added to the programme, offering visitors the chance to experience cuisine from several destinations, including Peru, Malaysia, Brazil and the Caribbean.
A number of world-famous international chefs will also be taking part in the festival, including Wolfgang Puck, Nuno Mendes, Bruno Loubet and David Chang, many of whom will be showcasing their talents at the festival's AEG Theatre.
Jason Atherton, one of the chefs taking part this year, commented: "London is without doubt the world's number one when it comes to finding quality cuisine from all around the world.
"Where else could you find as many Japanese and Vietnamese restaurants as French and Italian?
"It's remarkable and Taste of London is a brilliant opportunity for people to enjoy a flavour of what London will be serving up to the rest of the world this summer."
Visitors to the festival will also be able to sample dishes from 40 of the capital's top restaurants, serving a mix of Asian, European and South American cuisine, and pick up the latest ingredients from 200 quality food and drink producers.
A total of 11 Michelin stars will be represented by the restaurants taking part, including Le Gavroche, Gauthier Soho, Rhodes 24, Club Gascon, Petrus, Maze, Benares and Tamarind.
Taking place in Regent's Park, hotels in Marble Arch could provide the perfect base for those coming to the capital for this year's Taste of London, which runs from June 21st to 24th.
