London Chocolate Festival to take place next month

22nd November 2013

With winter reaching its peak, comfort foods are set to become a major feature of many people's diets. It's no coincidence that chocolate plays such a focal role in Christmas celebrations, with the endorphins contained in cacao helping people stay cheerful during the coldest and darkest part of the year.

If you're in need of an extra pick-me-up - or just fancy indulging in a bucket-load of chocolate- then you may be interested to hear that the London Chocolate Festival will be taking place at the Southbank Centre from December 13th to 15th.

Returning to central London for the 11th year, this is the perfect event for all lovers of the world's favourite treat, and is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Among the highlights of this year's festival is the chance to learn how to make salted caramel brownies, with a workshop being hosted by Rachel's Kitchen. Not only will this give participants the opportunity to enjoy the goodies that they make, but could also help to brighten up your Christmas dinner this year as you'll be able to test out your new skills on your friends and family - perfect if you don't like Christmas pudding.

There will also be a free daily chocolate-themed quiz, while a Masters of Chocolate Afternoon will be held as well, featuring a number of world-renowned chocolatiers. Among these are the likes of Damian Allsop, Andrew Gravett and Chantal Coady, all of whom will be on hand to provide tips and anecdotes on the theme of chocolate making.

A Valrhona Chocolate Afternoon Tea based on Joanne Harris' international best-selling novel Chocolat - which has also been adapted into a popular movie - will be hosted too as part of this year's London Chocolate Festival.

The Southbank Centre can be accessed from Waterloo and Embankment tube stations, and is close to a number of central London attractions, bars and restaurants.
