Major Manet exhibition to end soon

22nd March 2013

The Royal Academy of Arts is hosting the first major UK exhibition dedicated to Edouard Manet's portraits and has been since January 26th, but it only has another few weeks left before it closes.

This means that people haven't got long to secure stays in luxury suites in London to take in this breathtaking exhibition.

Featuring more than 50 paintings, including pastels and contemporary photographs that were obtained from a number of public and private collections throughout the world, this exhibition is an absolute delight to wander around.

The works are arranged thematically, exploring Manet's world and the landscape that he was faced with in 19th century Paris.

Some of the greater highlights of the exhibition include The Luncheon, which depicts Leon - the son of Manet's wife - and Music in the Tuileries Gardens, which portrays the artist's literary and theatrical friends.

The exhibition has received rave reviews from many different quarters, with critics delighting in the wide-range of portraits on offer.

Time Out said of the exhibition: "Manet's stark approach to his subjects helped to establish him as one of the forefathers of modern art and nowhere is his groundbreaking style more apparent than in his portraiture.

"The RA's winter blockbuster, featuring paintings of friends and family alongside contemporaries such as Monet and Morisot which are at once harsh and intimate, is filled with major pieces on loan from institutions in Europe and America."

People will be able to look around the exhibition for as little £15, which is an absolute bargain.

Getting to the Royal Academy of Arts shouldn't provide too many problems for people staying in the city as it is within walking distance of both the Piccadilly Circus and Green Park Tube stops.
