Patrick Stewart returns to Young Vic

9th December 2011

Theatre lovers may soon look to book luxury hotel rooms in London as Patrick Stewart is set to take to the stage in a production of Bingo: Scenes of Money and Death at the Young Vic.

Already championed by newspaper critics, such as The Guardian and The Independent, the Edward Bond play is running between February 16th and March 31st 2012.

Olivier Award winner Stewart, known for Macbeth and films such as X-Men and Star Trek, will be taking on the role of William Shakespeare.

"The glory years of London behind him, William Shakespeare finds himself in an overwhelming moral dilemma," explains the theatre.

"Like his greatest creation King Lear, he has to decide: what shall he do with his money and his power?"

Ticket prices range from £10 to £30, while a limited number of discounted tickets are available for each performance.

Matthew March will be joining Stewart by playing the bard in his younger years, while Richard McCabe will play Ben Jonson. Marsh has taken part in 11 past Young Vic productions, playing title roles in plays such as Hamlet and The Jail Diary of Albie Sachs. His recent theatre credits include No Naughty Bits, The Sawl, Blood and Gifts, Now or Later and Glengarry Glen Ross.

Furthermore, March will be appearing in the hotly anticipated film on Margaret Thatcher, The Iron Lady.

McCabe last performed at the venue as Mestophilies in Doctor Faustus and won grat acclaim for his portrayal of the PM in Yes, Prime Minister. His other credits include Twelfth Night, King John, Othello, Timon of Athens, Troilus and Cressida, The Winter's Tale and White Devil.

Perhaps ideal as part of romantic London getaways, the theatre production was awarded four stars by The Guardian.

"Bond's magnificent play excellently revived… changes forever one's perspective on Shakespeare," it explained.
