Santa's Grotto to open at Harrods this weekend

1st November 2013

With Halloween now over, it's time to start focussing all our attention on the next major holiday, which is, of course, Christmas.

There may be almost two months to go until the day itself, but the festive cheer is already starting to take over the capital as shops across the city begin to put up their Christmas decorations.

Nowhere is this more the case than at Harrods, which is arguably the world's most famous department store.

With an annual Christmas display that is among the best in London, shoppers who want to really get into the spirit of things will certainly want to pay a visit to the legendary shop in Knightsbridge.

Things will be kicking off this Saturday (November 2nd) with the annual Harrods Christmas Parade on Brompton Road.

Real reindeer and a host of performers and dancers dressed as popular children's cartoon characters – including the likes of Spongebob Squarepants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – are set to feature in the parade, which will culminate in the opening of Santa's Grotto inside Harrods itself.

Over the next few months, kids of all ages will be able to enter the grotto to meet Father Christmas himself, with each child receiving a gift of an exclusive Harrods book, a badge and some festive chocolate.

Adults, meanwhile, can browse the store's many departments to get all their Christmas shopping done without having to worry about their little ones getting bored or throwing a tantrum.

Famous for its high-quality goods covering just about every category, Harrods is among London's top shopping destinations and is also a fantastic tourist attraction in its own right – even for those who don't actually want to buy anything.

With an entire floor dedicated to toys, it's a great place to take the kids for a day out around Christmas time.
