Achieve your new year's resolutions in London
As one year ends and another begins, people across the world are assessing their lives and coming up with ideas for improvement over the next 12 months, and whichever aspect of your lifestyle you feel you need to work on in 2014, a trip to London is sure to help you do so.
For example, if your new year's resolution is to become more cultured then you'll find more museums and art galleries in the capital than anywhere else in the country, so there's certainly no shortage of material to help you develop a more interesting personality.
From the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square to the Science Museum in South Kensington, and even weird and wonderful exhibition spaces like the Fan Museum in Greenwich or the Old Operating Theatre in London Bridge, London is jam-packed full of brain food.
Alternatively, you may have decided to get into shape in 2014, and once again the capital is bursting with opportunities to do so. For example, by walking through central London - along the banks of the Thames, perhaps – rather than taking public transport everywhere you can make a significant adjustment to your lifestyle, becoming healthier while also being able to enjoy the experience of sightseeing at the same time. It really does take all the suffering out of exercise.
Others still may have decided to let their hair down a little more and grab life by the scruff of the neck over the next 12 months, and as you've probably guessed, London is a terrific place for a spot of hedonistic self-indulgence.
Whether this involves attending one (or more) of the many music festivals that take place in the capital during the summer – such as Field Day, Lovebox and Wireless, among others – or becoming something of a night-owl by spending more time at the city's trendy nightclubs, it's hard not to have a good time in London.
