London welcomes new aromatherapy spa
Tourists staying in spa hotels in London looking to add to their pampered holiday may be interested in visiting the newly opened Aromatherapy Associates Boutique & Treatment Rooms.
The cult British beauty brand, Aromatherapy Associates, has opened its first shop and spa in up-market Knightsbridge.
Selling the company's famous aromatherapy products as well as bespoke oils made at its Ingredients Bar, the site also boasts a handful of treatment rooms.
Tastefully decorated and tucked away from the busy street outside, the boutique hopes to be a centre of calm for visitors.
Geraldine Howard, co-founder of the group, may have learnt a lot from her recent tour to see how other cultures offer spa treatments.
"It is always fascinating to hear how spas and therapies work within different regions," she commented.
"It still amazes me to see of the tremendous differences between Asian and Western cultures and reminds me to pay attention to this when we create our treatments, training and products, and to ensure we truly cater for all our spas around the world."
The new venue offers a range of classic facials and anti-stress treatments as well as delicious treats, such as cookies, macaroons and fruit.
Ms Howard started the business back in the 1980s with her own treatment room in Fulham but said that finding a space in central London that could act as a retail hub and spa was "a far greater challenge".
"I'm a great believer in fate and it was worth the wait," she told the Daily Telegraph.
"I also met the wonderful interior designer, Martin Hulbert, at a party a couple of years ago and had a long conversation with him about having our own space and promised him that if that dream came true, he would design it. Sure enough, he is, and his work is exquisite".
