Paddington is one of London’s busiest neighbourhoods, with lots of attractions to explore for first-timers to the city. We’ve compiled this quick guide to five of the top things to see and do on your visit, ensuring you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained on your first trip…

  1. Visit Little Venice

Little Venice

Little Venice is a particularly scenic part of London, and the Paddington wing of this waterway is situated just behind Paddington Station. From here, you can enjoy a range of great activities on the water, including boat trips all the way to Regents Park, and trips on the water to nearby Camden Market. While staying at The Montcalm Marble Arch, a trip here is a fantastic way to acclimatise yourself with one of the quieter parts of the city, and enjoy a walk along the promenade or simply stop off in one of the relaxing cafes which line the dockside.

  1. Explore Hyde Park

London is filled with incredible Royal Parks, and Hyde Park is one of the very best. This area is home not only to some incredible natural scenery but also plenty of events, particularly outdoor music and gigs which take place throughout the year. The park is traditionally considered to be the main ‘green space’ in the city, situated in the heart of London.

On your exploration of Hyde Park, you’ll discover lots of statues, fountains and memorials dedicated to significant figures throughout history, and places like Speaker’s Corner are always home to lively debate. There are opportunities to take part in a sport, or simply enjoy the great outdoors without travelling far during your stay at The Montcalm Marble Arch hotel.

  1. Explore Merchant Square

For great local shopping and sightseeing, a trip to Merchant Square is a must-see while you’re staying in and around Paddington. This area spans 11 acres of everything from charitable events to food markets, and during the summer months, Merchant Square is transformed, with plenty of great outdoor experiences including the world’s first ever fountain maze.

Additional attractions include a variety of bars and restaurants, paddle-boarding, table tennis and the Floating Pocket Park, a 730 sqm floating green public space which has been custom designed to connect the local community.
